It would seem life is not without a sense of irony. I was sidelined for a couple days with some pretty fierce stomach pains, and after inconclusive tests the theory is ulcers. Ergo, no acidic foods for a week until it either goes away or we get to the bottom of what is really happening, and wouldn't you know, about 3 more brandywines are staring at me through the kitchen window, just begging to be plucked.
Coincidentally we may get a freeze this evening, so I need to build the tunnel fast. Hoop house is out this year, but I can get a tunnel in place, so wish me luck.

Sorry to hear about the ulcers, maybe you could grow some st john's wort? Good luck with the tunnel. We won't have a hoop house until spring and I'm going to have to move fast over the greens to keep any of them going.
Sorry to hear about the stomach pains, that is no fun - especially with all those tomatoes waiting for you. Hope you get something figured out soon!
I hope you can get your tunnel up before the freeze!
Hi spelled with a K
Hope you don't mind me asking but I am wondering what is the difference between a tunnel and hoop house. Is it size?
And what do you cover them with?
I am interested because for my (very) small business we advocate the use of poly pipe 1" diameter for the frame but we are always looking to try other solutions.
Hope your stomach pain clears up - it can be a bxxxx.
hoop house is bigger, a tunnel just covers one bed, kind of like a more sturdy version of the floating row cover.
Hope your stomach situation improves---gotta eat that tomato !!! Enjoyed your blog---I'm from New York now living in the California desert.
