grrrr. I checked under the leaves and along the edge of the garden, and no signs of any bugs, so
I'm not sure what did this, but it didn't mind the chilly wet weather. Hopefully this is not a crucible to test my new, do nothing approach. I was originally planning to utilize biological diveristy to encourage a natural homeostatic state of predators and "pests." It would seem I'm about to put my money where my mouth is.
